Mi Familia Abanquina

Like every family - we have had our ups and downs. Unfortunately, this week was a major down and I actually moved out. It's been quite stressful and emotional but we've sorted it all out and I'm actually going to be moving back in later today.

When you're in another country on your own, dealing with problems can be tough. But I've been reminded that I'm not alone. God is always here with me and even when I don't know what's happening or don't understand... God is sovereign and always in control. He always provides for us. I am a part of a great SIM team who have been amazing, and as a bonus, I've discovered I have some close Peruvian friends.

So I'm looking forward to moving back in with Luciano, Rossmary, Diana and Javier. Pray that I will continue to live as a light for Jesus and use the opportunity that God has given me to live with this family in this year of language and culture learning.

Just some news of what else is happening in Abancay:

- From Friday to Sunday, the SIM women missos had an interdenominational retreat for the women leaders of Abancay... praise God that it all went smoothly and that the ladies all enjoyed themselves. Pray that they will be challenged by what they learnt and be strengthened in their walk with God and encourage their churches.

- It's actually dry season... and the coldest month of the year here - but for some reason it poured last night and I can see snow on the tops of the hills (which is apparently not normal). Pray for the people in the villages, especially the children, that they will be warm and healthy.

Hope things work out back at home with your family. Will be praying for you at this time.
We're in our last week of college break and I'm sick in bed :( Please pray for me and Allan as there is much to do (sermon, preparing seminars etc) and we're both feeling weak. Thanks!

Hey Prilz,

Thanks for sharing not only about your 'ups', but also the 'downs' - it's good to see a bit of that side, too - and how God is still in it with you, helping you through. I pray that you'll experience his help & guidance in very practical ways in your everyday life with your Peruvian family - and that you'll be able to show them his love, no matter what ;-)

Here at SMBC College life has just started again - Wednesday of week 1... big temptation to be lazy and take it easy for a bit. On Saturday we'll have our 2nd semester commencement dinner - that should be fun! And it's freezing cold here at the moment... I'm sure you were just waiting to hear all this useless information, so for lack of anything more interesting, I'll leave it at that! Take care,

Claudia

Hey Prilz,
Sorry to hear its been a bit tough for you lately. Really glad though that God has been a great comfort.
Life here is good, had a month off, back to it tomorrow with a sermon and essay due in a week. Aaagh!
My sister and her family are still in Oz, waiting for their visa in Argentina. Very slow...
The Forster gang say hi. Saw a bunch of them at Aimee's engagemnet party.
Take care Prilz! Praying for you!

Hey Prilz,

I've been busy and unfortunately haven't come by as often as before. They had an announcement on radio about Peruvian Independence Day, so once again thought of you! Were there any festivities?

We'll continue to pray for you at our Growth Group.. and glad things are working out at home! We had a Family Service today at 11am, was pretty cool to see the kids dress up and that.

Plus lots of us are gearing up for RICE, you might've heard from it through your bro or what. Just thought you might like a bit of info on what's been on.

Take care, and God bless!
