Last days in Lima... or actually... in Huaraz
Last week, I finished bookkeeping with the SIM Peru office and Spanish classes. It's been a good couple of months in Lima and I think my Spanish grammar has improved (though, there is always room for improvement!). As for the office stuff... it was interesting, but I really wasn't there much! And I hope I haven't left things in a mess...!
So last weekend, my Abancay family... who now live in Lima and are actually from Huaraz... took me to Huaraz with them for a cousin's wedding.
Not the whole family went... just the girls! And because we missed our bus (long story...), Luciano (dad) took Diana and I all the way to Huaraz. But that ended up being really good, cos we got to hang out for a day.
It was really fun to have Rossmary (mum) show us around where she grew up. Huaraz is about 8 hours north of Lima in the mountains. It's absolutely beautiful there... but freezing!
After getting back from Huaraz, I left Lima for Abancay... my bus took over 18 hours, which is a record for me! Normally, it takes about 14 - 16 hours. So now I've been back in Abancay for a bit over a day... it's been good - it feels like I've come home and I'm ready to see where God leads me as I start this next phase of ministry.
I'm living at Jeff and Stacey's house (SIM US missos) and Zenaida and Yesenia, her 1 year old daughter, are staying with me so that I can have someone to speak Spanish to and so that I'm not living alone.
Continue to pray for guidance as I consider ministry opportunities. Pray that I can really settle back into life in Abancay... I've already been bitten to death by fleas... so that has been a nice welcome home!
